The down month, addressed
August is down 32% from July. That's a real drop, and it has a specific cause.
−9%last year's July→August dip
−32%this year's, on pace
Nearly a third of July's revenue didn't repeat in August. The cause isn't a hundred small customers drifting away — it's a few large accounts that haven't been buying. Golden Grail–Airport Way, normally about $12k a year of chews, is at 11% of its usual pace. Hotbox Farms hasn't ordered since April. Treasure Valley is at half its normal rate. Count every account genuinely off its pace and about $105k a year of buying is switched off right now. Last August gave back only 9%, so seasonality doesn't explain this either. The fix is as specific as the cause: the plan below starts with these exact accounts.
The counterweight
The buying base kept widening all year.

One chart per rep, each scaled to its own range so the shape of their year shows — the number on the right is that rep's 12-month total. The dotted tail is August so far. Credit is stamped on each order at the time it happened, so mid-year account moves are already reflected; House and unattributed sales aren't shown.
What the people are saying
The themes, from 325 notes across 134 accounts
The fans"Moving well, customers loving them" · "picked up substantially" · "a steady mover" — praise outruns "it sits" about two-to-one.
What customers ask forFlavors by name — Original Fruit repeatedly, Sour Fruit "moving the quickest" — plus a standing grape request and CBN interest.
Who they say it’s forOlder, cautious, low-dose customers; the 2.5mg bite is named as the reason it fits that shelf.
The cooler voices"Slow, but we’re glad to have it" · "Magic Number outsells it" · settled edible menus see no gap to fill. At a few doors, aging stock came back.
The "no"sAlways the account’s own budget or timing — no account in the record criticizes the product itself.

But the soft patch is recent: the accounts that mattered went quiet in the last few months — led by Hotbox Farms ($15k lifetime, last order April). That's the connection between this chart and the August dip.

Shipped orders only; samples never counted. Hatched = August so far; the dashed outline is the projection — below June and July, above every other month the brand has had.
The down month, addressed
August is down 15% — and last August was down 18%.
−18%Jul→Aug last year ($69k → $56k)
−15%Jul→Aug this year, on pace ($84k → ~$72k)
Two years running, this brand has peaked in July and exhaled in August by a nearly identical fraction. That looks like a rhythm, not a stumble — last year the exhale was followed by a choppy fall, a winter trough, and a spring rebuild to new highs. The grounded way to hold it: expect the same shape, at a higher level, and judge September against last September ($59k) rather than against July. If September lands under its year-ago month, that's the first real warning sign this year would have shown.

What the people are saying
The themes, from 477 notes across 152 accounts
The fans"They love Kites here, displays look great" · "doing well" — praise outruns complaint better than two-to-one where accounts describe performance.
Why they say it worksValue customers respond to the strength-for-price math; wide-variety shelves see customers walk out with more than one pack; better placement gets credited for better sell-through.
The criticsA small set say quality doesn’t justify price — "tasted trimmy," "burned super quickly." Reps answer that input material has been stepped up; a couple of critics agreed to taste again.
The fence-sitters"Liked them, worried they’ll sit" · "locked in with my current brands" — interest present, blockers are their budgets and timing. When one tips, the order lands within days.
Category contextA few accounts say pre-roll packs are struggling storewide for them — the whole shelf, not just ours.
